Release Notes:

Version 3.8 – 10/10/26

What’s new in 3.8

WarpDrive 3.8 is the last version you install by hand: it brings a built-in updater, so 3.9 and later install with one click from inside WarpDrive.

  • Built-in updater. An Update button appears in the top bar when a new version is out. It downloads, checks and installs the update, keeps backups, and restarts WarpDrive.
  • Reads the screen with Windows OCR. Ship distance and attack time, the buttons and tabs in Daily Clicks, and Mirror Universe system names are read as text. This makes WarpDrive less likely to break when the game changes its artwork. If text reading isn’t available, it falls back to images as before.
  • Pauses while you use the PC. When you move the mouse or type, WarpDrive waits until you have been idle for 20 seconds, then carries on.
  • “Save & restart bot” on the website. The Configuration and Daily Clicks pages can now save your settings and restart the bot’s run with them. The game keeps running.
  • New option: Do Not Collect Away Teams on the Configuration page.
  • “Do Not Collect Dailies” now defaults to NO.
  • Plans page: each plan is shown as its own card.
  • Fixes:
    • A missing ship, crew or fleet image no longer stops the bot.
    • Mining skips nodes another player is already on.
    • The Gifts tab handles single Claim and Claim All buttons.
    • Maverick tasks close with Collect.
  • Updated images and game settings: new tab images for the game’s current artwork, and updated community patch settings files for both resolutions.
  • Windows 10 or 11 is required.

Update the game settings file

3.8 ships an updated community patch settings file; version.dll is unchanged, so leave it as it is.

  1. Make sure Star Trek Fleet Command is closed.
  2. Open the game folder: the folder with prime.exe, the same path you entered in WarpDrive’s setup.
  3. Rename the existing community_patch_settings.toml to community_patch_settings.toml.bak as a backup.
  4. Copy the file for your resolution from the zip into the game folder:
    • 1920×1080: community_patch_settings_1920_1080.toml
    • 3840×2160: community_patch_settings_3840_2160.toml
  5. Rename it to exactly community_patch_settings.toml.

From 3.8 on, the updater replaces this file for you whenever it changes.

First start

Start maingui.exe and check these four things before you let it run.

  1. The version next to the WarpDrive name in the top bar says 3.8.
  2. The status shows All Systems Go!
  3. The log does not say “Windows OCR not available”. If it does, WarpDrive still works, using images only.
  4. On the website, open the Configuration page:
    • set Do Not Collect Away Teams the way you want it (default NO);
    • check Do Not Collect Dailies, which now defaults to NO;
    • click Submit.

Then start the bot as usual. When you change settings on the website later, click Save & restart bot instead of Submit. The running bot then picks up the new settings at its next safe point, usually within a few minutes.

Updating from now on

From 3.8 on you update inside WarpDrive: no more copying files by hand, and nothing changes until you click Update.

  1. WarpDrive checks for a new version each time it starts. When one is out, a purple Update to 3.9 button (for example) appears in the top bar. To check yourself, click the version number, then Check again.
  2. Stop the bot first. The button stays grey while the bot is running.
  3. Click Update. WarpDrive downloads the update and checks it is complete and genuine.
  4. Review what will change. For any image you replaced with your own, you choose: keep yours, or take the new one. A preview shows both.
  5. Click to apply. WarpDrive backs up every file it replaces, then installs the update.
  6. If the game is running, the game settings file waits: WarpDrive shows Almost done and puts it in once the game is closed.
  7. WarpDrive restarts itself on the new version.

Changed your mind? Click the version number, then Restore previous version… to put back exactly what you had. Backups are kept in the backups folder inside WarpDrive.

Downloaded the zip yourself? Click the version number, then Update from zip file, and pick the zip. You get the same review and backups.

Questions and troubleshooting

Do I have to install by hand again for 3.9? No. From 3.8 on, use the Update button.

The bot stops moving while I’m at the PC. That’s the new pause: it waits until you have been idle for 20 seconds, then carries on.

The Update window says “Couldn’t reach the update server”. Download the zip from the download page, then use Update from zip file.

The website says the restart could not be sent. Your settings are saved. Restart the bot from the WarpDrive window to use them. Save & restart needs WarpDrive 3.8 or later.

Windows or my antivirus warns about maingui.exe. WarpDrive is signed by Cinch Holdings LLC. Right-click maingui.exe, choose Properties, then Digital Signatures to check it.

I lost my ship or crew images. Copy them back from the backup you made in Before you start.

I forgot to copy manifest.json. Copy it from the zip into your WarpDrive folder. Without it, updates still work, but the review can’t always tell which new images you already have.
